Wise Words

By a three-year old.

How to Get Someone to Read a Book For You

For D

This ones about unity in family. More precisely, unity in parents' opinion/instruction. You can try negotiating but no playing one parent over the other.

She's not 4 yet, but she sure is fierce and opinionated. And learning quickly how to play her cards right.

D - Ma, can you please read this book for me?

Ma - Yes, but first you have to finish your milk.

D, turning to Dad - Acha can you please read this book for me?

Dad, laughing cos he's sitting just next to Ma - Yes, but finish your milk first.

D, turns to S, now 18 months old - S, can you please read this book for me?

S laughs. ( I don't even know if he's understood the scene, but his laugh was evil. )

Spooky Boos

Happy Halloween for those who celebrate it.

D - the 'girlieness' is taking over. It's all pink dresses and tees and everything else inside and out. It's fun to see pink butterflies coexisting with dragons. Thankfully Barbie Craze hasn't taken over yet. And no unicorns pooping rainbows either. Although, her BFF is Dora. No, literally. Her best buddy (let's call her F) is super cute and super adorable. And crazy about Dora. So much so that she's got the same hair cut and dressed as Dora for the school Halloween celebrations.

D .... Mmmm not so much. She was in the 'Kung-fu Panda' phase and wanted to dress up as a Panda. That was all the excuse I needed to search for more interesting locations in this continually amazing city. Just so happens, there is a childrens market nearby where we live (Not Pu'an, the Neon market at Hongqiao, if you are interested). Off we went, expectations high, but crushed as quickly as we approached the place. It had a ton of children's stuff, all right. But Halloween gear? Heck, the folks there hadn't even heard the word. We did find something, butterfly wings in a stationery shop. And the girl in her brightens up. So, butterfly she is.

Knowing her, I went ahead and bought the Panda outfit too, off Taobao. Oh how I'm gonna miss that when we leave from here! D was super thrilled when it came in, tried it on and decided she's a Panda. But come morning, and butterfly takes over.

Yes, he's got a pumpkin for a hat :) Super cute, that handsome charmer.

I'm still dreading the day Barbie arrives on scene.

A Few Good Things

Happy Diwali. Our first here in Shanghai. Wasn't a celebration tho, but we did have some goodies prior and after.

Just to clarify, that cake is not burnt. It's chocolate. Decadent. And was utterly butterly delicious. And I took the snap on the iPad.

P.s.
Yes, I made those. From scratch. Even the condensed milk for the pedas. Yes they are pedas. Not cookies. The Dad calls them diabetic pedas, cos it's not upto his sugar levels. D n S can't stop eating them tho.

P.p.s.
We are a greedy bunch and we aren't sharing. You can ogle at the pictures ;p
